The barrel from Scoreni, 2019-2021.

The barrel from Scoreni is a Challenger initiative, through which the participants of the program aimed to increase the touristic and economic potential of the village of Scoreni (Straseni district) by building there the largest barrel in the world.

Currently, this idea is being implemented and the construction works are in full swing. The barrel is to be 10.2 m long and 6.5 m high. The construction is set to be a multifunctional one - a village museum with exhibited objects collected from Scoreni ancestors will be set up, as well as a protocol room for guests from all over the country and abroad and foreign delegations will be created.

Why a barrel? Because the barrel is the symbol of the village of Scoreni. It was here, in this locality, that the first wooden barrels were crafted, and this beautiful craft was passed down from father to son, from generation to generation, bringing fame to the barrel carpenters from Scoreni. The construction of the largest barrel in the world will mean the promotion of local customs, traditional elements, craftsmen, local products and the Scoreni community. Moreover, in the future we will organize a Barrel Festival, where participants will be able to experience for themselves what it means to hold a chisel in your hand.
